Carbon market integrity and investment in focus as Corporate Carbon leaders join Australian Emissions Reduction Summit

As Australia’s carbon market undergoes significant change,  Corporate Carbon Group (CCG) will use this week’s  Australasian Emissions Reduction  (AER) Summit in Melbourne to deliver strong messages on accelerating policy reform and ensuring integrity across project methodologies, carbon credit trading and key regulatory frameworks.

Hosted by the Carbon Market Institute from 13–14 August, the summit will gather more than 1,000 industry leaders, including policymakers and investors, under the theme Next Steps for Net Zero. It comes as the sector faces urgent calls to accelerate Safeguard Mechanism reforms, progress ACCU Scheme methodologies and unlock finance for high-integrity nature-based solutions.

Marc Train, CCG General Manager, will join the panel Accelerating ACCU Scheme reforms for Safeguard delivery and NDC ambition, outlining the demand signals, policy certainty and project delivery standards needed to scale impact.

“The next phase of the ACCU market will be defined by confidence. Confidence from buyers to commit long term, from investors to fund new projects, and from communities to trust the outcomes. Getting the policy settings and delivery standards right now is critical. It will set the pace for Australia’s net zero journey.” Mr Train said.

Dr Kate Dodds, CCG’s Chief Technical Officer, will speak on Nature-based solutions: Unlocking investment in co-benefits, highlighting how credible metrics and collaboration drives capital toward projects that deliver climate, biodiversity and community outcomes.

“When investors can see and measure the benefits beyond carbon, they are far more likely to back nature-based projects. That means transparent metrics, clear reporting and collaboration across sectors to connect capital with projects that deliver for climate, communities and nature,” Dr Dodds said.

The company’s approach to market integrity is grounded in best practice in social licence to operate and rigorous due diligence, including self-audits and transparent measurement, reporting and verification of project outcomes. As a Gold Sponsor of the event, CCG will be at Booth 12 to connect with stakeholders on opportunities and challenges shaping the carbon market’s next phase.
