ClubsNSW has today announced the appointment of Arely Carrion to the newly created position of Head of Social Impact at ClubsNSW.
Arely has worked for Mounties Group since 2019, including for the past five-and-a-half years in the role of Executive Manager Community.
In 2023, Mounties Group launched a Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence (DFSV) Action Plan – a move spearheaded by Arely – to demonstrate the role that workplaces can play in identifying and responding to instances of DFSV. She has since helped to roll out similar programs in clubs across NSW and has received extensive support from Mounties Group CEO Dale Hunt, Leagues Clubs Australia CEO Don Hammond, ClubsNSW and other industry leaders to achieve her vision of creating safer communities for all.
A victim survivor of domestic violence herself, Arely has also served as a non-executive director of Bonnie Support Services and a non-executive director of the Bayside Women’s Shelter. She has also previously worked as a Domestic Violence Service Management Associate at Insight Exchange.
ClubsNSW CEO Rebecca Riant said Arely will be a very welcome addition to the organisation.
“Clubs in New South Wales have a long and storied history as social, cultural and economic assets that benefit local communities on all levels, and we are thrilled that Arely is coming on board to help amplify the positive impact that they have,” said Ms Riant.
“Dale Hunt and his team at Mounties Group have led the way in the development of their DFSV Action Plan and supporting Arely to roll the program out across the state – they have created very solid foundations for us to build upon.
“Arely will be able to use her wealth of experience in the industry to lead the social impact strategy at ClubsNSW – which will include more crucial work in the domestic violence space and looking at how clubs can continue to provide for the growing number of people experiencing homelessness across the state, supporting youth in regional areas, as well as our veteran community – and that’s just the beginning!”
Mounties Group CEO Dale Hunt said that he looks forward to watching Arely succeed in her new role.
“Arely possesses such talent, drive and ambition – she has been an incredible asset to the Mounties Group and the local community as a result,” Mr Hunt said.
“While the Mounties Group is devastated to be losing her, we are absolutely thrilled to see Arely taking on a new challenge in the industry and we can’t wait to see the impact that she has at ClubsNSW and in clubs right across the state.”
Arely said she expects to hit the ground running in the new role.
“Registered clubs play such a pivotal role in their communities, and while they are already doing so much to support those in need, there is always more to be done and I can’t wait to get started,” she said.
“I really want to express my gratitude to Dale Hunt and the team at Mounties Group, as well as Leagues Clubs Australia CEO Don Hammond for believing in me and helping me to achieve what I have to date. This new opportunity would never have come about without their support and guidance.”
Arely will commence in her new role on Tuesday, 1 April 2025.
