Planet Ark is proud to announce Coles as the Major Sponsor of National Tree Day 2026, supporting Australia’s largest community tree-planting and nature care event as it celebrates its 30th anniversary.

For three decades, National Tree Day has brought Australians together to plant trees, restore habitats and strengthen connections with nature, showcasing the power of community environmental stewardship while creating greener spaces for future generations. This year, Coles will help expand that impact by supporting communities across the country to take part in local environmental action.

In addition to being Major Sponsor of the nationwide event, Coles will be equipping five National Tree Day hero sites across Australia, with a comprehensive support package to help deliver successful community planting events.

With a hero site in each participating state, the support includes a $2,500 seedling contribution for each site, a $500 Coles voucher for refreshments, coordinator resources and event materials, helping local organisers welcome volunteers and maximise the environmental impact of their planting activities.

Planet Ark CEO Adam Culley said the partnership represents a significant investment in community-led environmental action during a milestone year for the campaign.

“National Tree Day has inspired millions of Australians to take positive environmental action over the past 30 years, and we’re thrilled to welcome Coles as Major Sponsor this year – the landmark anniversary year,” Mr Culley said.

“Coles’ nation-wide support will help local organisers plant more seedlings, engage more volunteers and create lasting environmental benefits in their local areas.”

In addition to supporting local planting events, Coles and Planet Ark will launch a nationwide National Tree Day giveaway competition designed to encourage participation and celebrate the efforts of volunteers.

Australians who take part in National Tree Day activities will have the chance to enter by sharing a photo from their event on Instagram using the hashtag #NationalTreeDayGiveaway. Ten winners will each receive a $250 Coles gift card, with a total prize pool of $2,500[1].

The competition will run throughout the National Tree Day campaign period, encouraging participants to share their experiences and inspire others to get involved in environmental action in their own communities.

National Tree Day will take place on Sunday 26 July 2026, with Schools Tree Day taking place on Friday 24 July 2026.

Since its inception in 1996, National Tree Day has engaged millions of Australians in hands-on environmental action, with over 26 million trees planted through the program.
