In a first to market initiative Victorian volume home builder JG King Homes has announced the roll out of an 8 Star energy efficiency standard on all standard home designs confirming its place as the industry’s sustainability leader. *

JG King Building Group Executive Director, John King Jr said families who choose JG King Homes will now be able to upgrade their future and benefit from savings on heating and cooling without downgrading their budgets.

* All standard JG King Homes house designs can be constructed to achieve an 8 Star NatHERS performance rating at no additional cost provided the home and garage is optimally orientated.

The decision as to optimal orientation shall be made by JG King Homes.

Any change to a standard design, including and not limited to floorplan choices and façade changes, may affect the NatHERS performance rating and may incur additional costs to achieve an 8 Star rating.

** Based on the Nationally Accredited NatHERS Energy Efficiency Assessment found that an 8 Star home will use 30% less energy when compared to a 7 Star home.

*** Subject to lending institution eligibility criteria.

^ In August 2025, the Commonwealth Government announced a freeze in star rating changes through the National Construction Code (NCC) until the end of the National Housing Accord period (mid-2029). In effect, no new star rating standard can come into effect until the 2030s.
