Thanks to the incredible enthusiasm of the community, Albury locals have recycled an impressive 50 million bottles, cartons, and cans since the launch of the Albury Return and Earn Depot in April 2022.

Albury Return and Earn Depot is operated by Billabong Recycling, who support the local community and environment by providing a convenient return solution for the Albury and Southern NSW region.

The depot accepts large volumes of containers including bins, bales and even ute and truckloads. Albury Return and Earn Depot also provides regular home and business collection services in Albury and the surrounding areas, including Lockhart, Walla Walla and Gerogery.

Bruce Forbes, owner and operator of Billabong Recycling, said he is proud to offer fast, friendly and efficient container returns to make it easy for the residents of Albury and surrounding areas to cash in their eligible bottles and cans.

“We appreciate the dedication and enthusiasm shown by locals in embracing Albury Return and Earn Depot,” he said.

“Together, we’ve not only achieved significant environmental milestones but have also strengthened our community, demonstrating the strong impact collective action can have.”

The environmental impact of recycling 50 million containers instead of producing new ones is staggering. Recyclers have contributed to:

• Energy savings equivalent to powering over 680 households for a year.
• Water conservation equivalent to filling over 117 Olympic-sized swimming pools.
• Carbon dioxide emissions reduction equivalent to taking over 3,600 cars off the road for a year.

Returning containers through Return and Earn is a great way to support your local community and make a positive impact. Locals can also donate their refund to one of over 400 donation partners by using the depot’s ‘tag and drop’ service and the Return and Earn app.

The Albury Return and Earn Depot is located at 11 Catherine Crescent, Lavington. It is open from Monday to Friday, 9am – 4pm and Saturday and Sunday from 9am -2pm.
