Tech Innovator 1receipt Deploys ‘rShield®’ Privacy Wall as Officeworks Integration Goes Live

Australian Fintech company 1receipt has deployed its sharpest release to date (v2.9), securing Officeworks as the second major retailer certified on its platform. This milestone introduces the next generation of the company’s ‘rShield®’ privacy protocol, effectively eliminating paper receipts and setting a new standard for shopper data protection at the point of sale.

Addressing the Privacy Backlash The release comes amidst growing shopper backlash over retailers demanding personal data at checkout. Media coverage by Channel 9 has highlighted the “data-for-receipt” trade-off, where shoppers are forced to choose between the convenience of a digital record and the sanctity of their private inbox.

“This v2.9 update is more than just a software release; it’s the foundation for the future of retail tech”, said Shahryar Faraji, CEO of 1receipt. “By certifying major retailers like Officeworks via our faster rShield® protocol, we are solving the pain points of paper clutter and data privacy simultaneously. This entire system sets the stage for our eventual Pyramid Scan & Go rollout.”

Certifying Major Retailers: The Universal Standard for Digital Receipts The integration of Officeworks, one of Australia’s largest suppliers of office and stationery products, validates the scalability of the rShield® privacy standard across over 170 stores nationally. The technology ensures all receipts are managed by the shopper in one secure applicaion, adhering to the company’s core promise: Zero paper. Zero personal data.

How the Technology Works The system assigns a unique, anonymised email address to each user immediately upon sign-up. When shopping at locations where ‘Pyramid’ scanning is not available, shoppers simply provide this ‘rShield® ID’ instead of their personal contact details.

The system then routes the receipt directly to the user’s 1receipt app while automatically stripping out and blocking marketing communications. To reduce checkout friction, the update includes deep integration with Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, allowing users to present their rShield® ID via a single tap.

New UX & Aesthetic Upgrades In addition to the strategic certification, the v2.9 release includes a suite of new aesthetic and functional upgrades designed to enhance the user experience, including Dark Mode, Liquid Design, and Read/Unread status indicators.

Industry Momentum This latest integration follows the company’s earlier adoption by Coles, signalling a definitive shift in how large-scale retailers are approaching post-purchase shopper experience. Industry analysts suggest that as privacy legislation tightens and shopper “spam fatigue” grows, retailers are under pressure to offer digital proof-of-purchase methods that do not require invasive data harvesting.

“We are seeing a clear pivot in shopper sentiment”, Faraji noted. “The expectation is no longer just about going paperless; it is about going private. With the Officeworks integration, we are proving that you can have seamless digital receipts without the privacy cost.”

The 1receipt v2.9 update with faster rShield® functionality is currently active and available to all Australian shoppers.
