Passionate conservationist and EcoNews regular Lara Shannon embarks on an epic 25-day journey to save the orangutans in her debut documentary The Trans Borneo Challenge this Saturday, August 15, at 3:00pm on free to air TV Nine Network.
This inspiring adventure sees Lara travel over 2000 kilometres across Borneo on a mission to save the orangutans, mankind’s closest living relatives, from extinction.
Before diving headfirst into Borneo’s jungle wilderness, Lara assists in the rehabilitation of local wildlife, including orangutans and sun bears.
Joining Lara on the Trans Borneo Challenge are five other women from across the globe that all share her passion and determination for conservation.
They navigate through dense jungles, climb the Müller Mountain Range and cross flooded rivers as they battle the elements and an unforgiving landscape.
With up to 300 football fields of biologically diverse rainforest being cleared every hour, the women’s goal is to raise awareness about the plight of the orangutan and other endangered species facing extinction due to mass deforestation, and to reduce the production of palm oil.
Lara Shannon has appeared on Cheez TV, Saturday Disney and Totally Wild, teaching children about environmental issues, and inspired countless people to maintain a healthy and sustainable society.
The Trans Borneo Challenge is the first of the Ecochick Adventures Series.
The Trans Borneo Challenge Saturday, August 15, at 3.00pm on Nine Network. Followed on Wednesday, August 19, at 3.30pm on GEM (Encore)
