ZNE-Ag CRC Showcases Profitable Pathways to Zero Net Emissions

Australian agriculture will take a major step towards a low-emissions future this November, with the launch of the Zero Net Emissions Agriculture CRC Annual Conference (ZNE-Ag CRC), a whole-of-industry event set to inspire, equip, and unite the sector, delivering practical, profitable pathways to zero net emissions.

To be held at The University of Queensland, Brisbane, on Thursday 27 & Friday 28 November 2025, the conference will bring together global experts, commercial producers, agribusiness leaders, researchers, industry bodies, and financial innovators, all working towards one clear goal: lowering emissions from Australian agriculture in ways that boost both productivity and profitability.

Conference highlights include the highly anticipated launch of Pathways to Zero Net Emissions Agriculture – A Stocktake, a practical handbook designed to give farmers, advisors, and industry the tools and insights to create clear, actionable emissions reduction plans while maintaining productivity.

“This conference is about bringing Australia’s agricultural leaders, producers, and researchers together to share solutions that are both good for the environment and the bottom line,” said Richard Heath, CEO of ZNE-Ag CRC.

“We’re moving beyond theory to show how emissions reduction can be a profitable part of everyday farming. The expertise, evidence, and experiences shared here will be game-changing for producers and the industry as a whole.”

The program features:

  • Breakfast session on Climate Change: What are the costs of inaction?  with Matt Kean (Climate Change Authority) and Richard Heath (ZNE-Ag CRC).
  • The Future of Farming in a Changing Climate, keynote speaker Dr Jared Greenville (Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences ABARES), and the business case for tracking carbon on farm with Nuffield Scholar Pippa Jones.
  • What’s Possible: Practical Solutions Already Working on Farms, including tools, practices, and technologies reducing emissions now, with Prof. Ben Hayes (ZNE-Ag CRC), Stuart Tighe (The Boolah Group), Melinee Leather (Leather Cattle Co.), Allison Kelly (AgVIC) and keynote speaker Ruth Leary (AgriZeroNZ).
  • How to Start: Building Your Own Emissions Reduction Plan, with Jurre Smits (Rabobank), Prof. Richard Eckard (ZNE-Ag CRC), and Nicole Yazbek-Martin (Australian Sustainable Finance Institute).

Founder and CEO of Humans of Agriculture, Oli Le Lievre, will MC the inaugural event. The program will also include a welcome networking evening on Thursday, 27 November.

“This is where the future of Australian agriculture is being shaped,” said Prof. Ben Hayes, ZNE-Ag CRC. “By focusing on profitable pathways to lower emissions, we can help producers adopt innovations that improve productivity, resilience, and sustainability, ensuring Australian agriculture remains globally competitive well into the future.”

Tickets are on sale now on the ZNE-Ag CRC Annual Conference webpage. Early booking is encouraged, with strong interest expected from across Australia’s agricultural heartlands.
