Environmental news and current affairs gains an exciting new offering this week with the launch of EcoTV, the latest in a wave of online TV shows to hit the internet.
Providing viewers with the latest environmental news headlines, sustainable lifestyle tips and interviews with industry thought leaders and eco-minded celebrities, EcoTV , on the EyeWorldTV.com network, promises to engage, educate and entertain viewers on all things green.
Funded by the creators of the environmental news sites EcoNews.com.au and EcoVoice.com.au, the 15 minute show will be updated twice a week and hosted by Melbourne based media personality, Lara Shannon.
A passionate environmental campaigner, Lara has worked with a number of environmental organisations in Australia and the UK, including Keep Australia Beautiful, Planet Ark, WWF and others.
Lara has been a regular guest environment presenter on children’s television shows, fronted many environmental television commercials and videos and participated in hundreds of media interviews to help raise awareness of importance environmental issues and campaigns.
Coinciding with her new role on EcoTV, Lara has launched Ecochick.com, an eco-lifestyle website and blog which aims to provide a resource and inspiration for people to reduce their environmental footprint through simple, sustainable lifestyle changes.
On both EcoTV and Ecochick.com, Lara will raise debate and discuss topical environmental issues that affect all Australians, in an easy to understand and solution based way.
Production on EcoTV begins in Melbourne this week with the first show airing on EyeWorldTV.com and ecotv.com.au this Thursday evening February 23.
Guests joining Lara this week include Captain Locky MacLean from the Sea Shepherd, who will talk about his experiences taking on the Japanese whaling ships.
Also on the show will be Ben Brazil from Corporations, People and the Planet, a three day event being held in Melbourne at the end of April featuring presenters such Sigourney Weaver, Sir Bob Geldof and renowned environmentalist Dr David Suzuki discussing issues surrounding global sustainability.
Ben will be joined by David McInnes, Group Manager for Sustainability at Linfox and an Al Gore Climate Change Ambassador, who will also be presenting at the conference.
In the coming weeks guests will include AFL footballer and Visy Ambassador, Chris Judd; singer Wendy Matthews, surfer Layne Beachley and a host of other celebrities and industry figures.
