SiteHive Weather
Changes in climate are expected to increase the frequency and intensity of weather conditions that impact construction projects*. As weather patterns become more variable and environmental expectations continue to grow, construction and infrastructure projects need more than monitoring data – they need the context to understand it.
To provide those insights, Australian environmental technology company SiteHive has launched SiteHive Weather, a new solution that integrates hyperlocal weather monitoring directly into its environmental monitoring platform. This will help project teams better interpret environmental conditions, respond proactively to risks and strengthen compliance reporting.
The launch addresses a long-standing gap in environmental management by bringing weather and environmental monitoring together. While weather is one of the biggest influences on dust, noise, vibration, and water, it has traditionally been monitored separately – forcing environmental professionals to piece together information from multiple sources to explain environmental outcomes or demonstrate compliance.

“Environmental monitoring doesn’t happen in isolation,” said Ben Cooper-Woolley, SiteHive Co-founder.
“Weather is often the missing piece of the puzzle. It influences how dust moves, how environmental conditions change and how project teams respond to potential impacts. Bringing that information together gives environmental professionals much greater confidence in the decisions they make and the evidence they provide.”
SiteHive Weather combines on-site weather monitoring with the SiteHive Enviro platform, creating a single source of truth that brings together weather, dust, noise, vibration and water data in one cloud-based system.
John Holland’s Environmental Advisor, Monique Pitcorn-Van Haarlem, said SiteHive Weather had proven highly accurate in measuring site conditions.
“We have had an extremely positive experience with SiteHive Weather and have a high level of confidence in its accuracy and reliability, particularly for rainfall, humidity and wet bulb measurements.”
Key capabilities include:
- Hyperlocal weather monitoring integrated with environmental data
- Automated alerts for rainfall, wind speed and wet bulb temperature
- Historical weather records to support compliance reporting and investigations
- Integrated reporting across weather and environmental datasets
- Automated site imagery every 15 minutes to verify site conditions
By connecting these datasets, environmental professionals can better understand the factors influencing monitoring results, identify emerging risks earlier, mitigate the environmental impacts and provide stronger evidence to regulators, project owners and local communities.
Historical weather records are also captured automatically, supporting environmental investigations, compliance reporting and project reviews without requiring users to access multiple systems.
Environmental management is becoming increasingly data-driven, with project teams expected to demonstrate not only that monitoring has occurred, but also how environmental risks have been identified, managed and communicated.
Integrating weather with environmental monitoring helps manage and minimise environmental impacts, such as elevated dust levels during high winds or changing monitoring results following rainfall. It provides greater transparency and supports more informed decision-making.
“Environmental professionals don’t need more data – they need better context,” said Cooper-Woolley.
“Integrating weather with environmental monitoring helps teams understand environmental outcomes, communicate them clearly and respond proactively as conditions change.”
SiteHive Weather is available from 15 July.
