SODASTREAM AUSTRALIA NAMED FIRST-EVER SUSTAINABILITY SPONSOR OF MELBOURNE’S HERALD SUN/TRANSURBAN RUN FOR THE KIDS.

The world’s no. 1 sparkling water brand renowned for its commitment to sustainability is joining Melbourne’s Herald Sun/Transurban Run for the Kids on April 6 as its first-ever sustainability sponsor, helping lead the event towards a more eco-friendly future.

SodaStream Australia is proud to announce its partnership with the family-friendly community event, taking a leading role in promoting sustainable drinking habits on and off course. The brand is celebrating Earth Day for the month of April, giving away 7,000 reusable carbonating bottles to eventgoers and introducing its innovative DIY Hydration Station on-site, designed to offer free bubbly refreshments and encourage the community to opt for reusable alternatives over single-use plastics.

Together with its long-term charity partner, Clean Up Australia, this milestone sponsorship reinforces SodaStream’s commitment to replacing single-use plastic bottles by integrating sustainability into large-scale events. With Clean Up Australia, SodaStream champions a simple yet powerful concept: replace and reuse. Its entire eco-system has been built with sustainability in mind – one SodaStream replaces over a thousand* single-use plastic bottles, its CO2 Cylinders are cleaned, refilled, and tested for continuous reuse and the flavour bottles are made from rPET (recycled plastic), with all packaging fully recyclable.

“We are thrilled to be the first-ever sustainability sponsor of Herald Sun/Transurban Run for the Kids,” said Holly Walker, SodaStream Australia Marketing Manager. “This partnership represents our commitment to making sustainable choices accessible for all consumers, empowering them to make positive choices every day, so we can ensure a healthier planet for generations to come. With our new partnership and initiatives at Run for the Kids, we hope to inspire a shift away from single-use plastics and towards more responsible hydration habits, while also supporting a fantastic cause.”

As one of Melbourne’s most beloved community events, Herald Sun/Transurban Run for The Kids supports the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal, raising vital funds for children in need. Run for the Kids Chair, Genevieve Brammall, expresses her enthusiasm for this new partnership and its impact on event sustainability.

“I am very proud that the Herald Sun/Transurban Run for the Kids continues to recognise the importance of sustainability for the event, as we work towards an eco-friendlier future for our community.  It is a real boost to have an organisation the calibre of SodaStream Australia join us in that aim.

We look forward to building on this together with our sustainability partner, and hope that our wonderful participants and supporters enjoy the benefits of the new sponsorship with the chance to secure a reusable bottle and to utilise what I’m sure will be a very popular DIY Hydration Station on event day.”

Since 2017, SodaStream has worked closely with Clean Up Australia on many campaigns and initiatives, including the annual Earth Day celebration each April, the Oceans of the Future Campaign, new product launches that promote eco-friendly solutions, and Business Clean Up Days encouraging corporate responsibility. This year, the partnership expands with month-long Clean Up Australia campaigns at Coles in March and Big W in the month of April, encouraging Australians to make the switch to more sustainable solutions every day.

On race day, participants and spectators alike are encouraged to visit the interactive SodaStream DIY Hydration station where they can fizz, mix and enjoy their range of sparkling water makers and flavours, designed to refuel and rehydrate.
