Atlassian and Goulburn Community Solar Farm sign 10-year renewable energy agreement

Agreement supports new community-owned renewable energy in Australia and Atlassian Central’s 100% renewable electricity target

Atlassian and the Goulburn Community Energy Cooperative (GCEC) have signed a 10-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the Goulburn Community Solar Farm, committing to fund almost 70% of the project’s electricity output over the next decade.

The project is a solar and battery farm owned by a community of around 288 local investors with approximately 2,300 solar panels and a 4MWh battery to store generated energy.

This PPA means Atlassian’s investment in renewable-energy for 100% of its electricity consumption will now fund net-new generation rather than drawing on existing sources. It will also help power the new Atlassian Central headquarters building that will run entirely on renewable energy when it opens in 2028.

Beyond delivering clean electricity to the New South Wales grid, the project delivers tangible local community benefits:

  • Local jobs and supply chains: Construction and ongoing operations prioritise local workers, contractors, and regional suppliers, across the Goulburn Mulwaree region.

  • Community energy fund: A portion of the project’s ongoing profits will fund local initiatives, in partnership with a local charity, helping struggling regional households tackle energy poverty.

The 10-year agreement provides stability and security for the Goulburn Community Solar Farm, enabling local clean energy generation to thrive.

Atlassian Chief Sustainability Officer, Jessica Hyman, said: “Reaching net zero takes a team effort across the entire energy system. We’re proud to make this 10-year commitment to the Goulburn community to bring brand-new solar and battery storage online in regional New South Wales. It’s an investment that adds clean power to the shared grid that everyone benefits from, while ensuring Atlassian Central HQ is backed by local renewables from day one.”

Andrew Bray, Chair, Goulburn Community Energy Cooperative, said: “Our active volunteers and investor community worked patiently and diligently across a number of years to see this project come to fruition, so to have a blue chip Australian company like Atlassian come on board as a commercial partner is a huge vote of confidence in what we have built. We are delighted to be working with Atlassian to provide community-owned green electricity into the local grid.”
